1. Read the live prompts
Start by following the movement, look and interact prompts. The tutorial uses a clam as the first interaction example. Input icons are filled from your current bindings, so use the control shown on screen instead of copying a fixed key from a guide.
2. Make the first catch
Face the water and cast the bait into the ocean. Once a creature takes the bait, use the reel action shown by the game to bring it in. “Cast” and “Reel In” are the official English action labels; this page does not guess the underlying keyboard or controller button.
3. Inspect, then sell
Hold a creature and use Inspect to learn its value. For the selling lesson, carry the clam to the shopkeeper NPC and use the prompted throw action. This confirms the basic money loop—catch or pick up an item, check it, then sell it—without claiming an unverified sale price.
4. Continue with NPC quests
Look at an island NPC and interact to see what they need. The official tutorial identifies NPC quests as the way to move progress forward. It also later directs you to buy a Crab-Fishing Rod so you can catch more valuable creatures; exact price and an “optimal” purchase time are outside the evidence for this guide.
