There is no single boss count
Build 25604825 has the story fights below, plus boss-lure targets, plus at least one mini-boss added by The Islet Update on 28 September 2026. The patch note does not name that mini-boss. A page that says "there are N bosses" would be guessing. Use the bait table instead.
The 1.0.9 notes add Easy and Hard difficulty for all creatures: Easy is 25% less health and 50% less damage, Hard is 25% more health and 25% more damage. That is why this guide does not print one health number.

Boss-lure targets
These are the creatures on the boss-lure tables. They are not the same list as the story table above. Where a lure lists more than one creature, the game picks with the stored weights. This page does not convert those weights into a drop percentage.

Blue Shark and Goblin Shark are also the two items the grillmaster accepts. That quest unlocks the grill. It does not unlock an island.
Rules that apply to every fight
- You cannot respawn during a boss fight. Another player can still revive you.
- The interface can count down "Boss is leaving" and then say "Boss Left." If it leaves, start that encounter again.
- While any boss is active, another boss bait will not start a second story boss. The catch code returns its fallback fish instead.
- The island 2 quest text says to bring a gun for the Giant Piranha and that bare hands are dangerous. That warning is specific to her line. It is not a rule that every boss forbids melee. The Handyman achievement is a separate, low-damage killing hit on the Bowhead Whale script.
What to do after the kill
Pick up the named trophy before you sell the body. The unlock happens when you take the NPC's reward, not at the moment the health bar ends. After the Whale Fin, the end-game boat changes from "No Keys" to "Get Back." That interaction is the walkthrough's last step.
